Bringing Virtual Creations into Physical Reality

ANTIVIRTUAL is an experimental product development project by alicetek that seeks to reinterpret fictional costumes and character designs originating from films, animation, illustration, digital media, and virtual spaces as tangible, real-world garments.
Through pattern engineering, material selection, garment construction, and manufacturing techniques, the project explores how designs that exist only in imagination or digital form can be translated into physical reality while preserving their original aesthetic and intent.
The term “ANTI” in ANTIVIRTUAL does not imply opposition to the virtual world. Rather, it represents a complementary approach—bringing outstanding creations born in virtual spaces into the physical world, allowing their appeal, craftsmanship, and creative potential to be experienced from a new perspective.

About the Project

This project is conducted as a platform for research and development in costume production, with the goals of advancing garment-making techniques, evaluating production capabilities, and sharing the creative and technical processes behind the work.
When a costume is created with reference to a specific character’s outfit, it is, as a general rule, not intended for commercial product development. However, if the design is determined not to be limited to a distinctive expression unique to that work and instead falls within the scope of common apparel design elements or widely used design features, we may consider commercializing garments inspired by those design elements rather than the character costume itself.
Examples: color variations, sleeveless adaptations, changes in garment length, simple paneling or seam arrangements, and other design elements that are commonly used in apparel design.

Original Design Development

As part of the ANTIVIRTUAL project, alicetek is also launching an initiative to create costumes based on original concepts submitted by customers and creators.
